There is a remarkable potential for collaborative research and valuable pathways between the sciences, technology, design and the arts. Bridging and building strengths across disciplines can offer interesting possibilities and confluences to explore new design paradigms, bringing innovative ideas and practices, building new areas of research, methodologies, frameworks, styles of thinking and/or ways expanding the borderline of the current models and approaches. Often, scientific, technological research and innovation contribute to the social and cultural advancement and transformation. Scientists, engineers, computer scientists, and developers can provide for useful infrastructure, framework, knowledge, tools and resources not generally covered by the arts and the humanities and which can contribute for these changes. From this perspective cross-disciplinary collaboration, could play an essential role. On the other hand, to enhance cutting-edge interrelationship between these disciplines and areas does not only benefit the arts, humanities and social science, but it can also benefit and enrich the science and technology. There are significant possibilities for research of interpretation, representation of scientific visions, ideas, advancements and progress in the ambit of art, humanities and social science, culture, sociology, (i.e. Art, literature, visual media, creative digital communication, digital storytelling, interactive narrative), and on the role of narrative and public and private institutions (i.e. cultural, museums: art, science, technology, new media) to enact ways of enhancing public engagement and creative or an educational approach with innovations, science and technology.
Within this frameworks Franz Fischnaller will present few of his own works, experimental ideas and projects design deriving from exploration of the convergences of disciplines such as interactive design, art, architecture, technology and science.
We expect the framework to help in raising analysis and evaluation of current and future designs which emphasize in experimental approaches, active and integrated novel design solutions with particular emphasizes on blending disciplines and fostering interdisciplinary interactions (e.g. collaborative research models, and approaches to enhance innovative cross-disciplinary projects and creative matrix-minded design.
